Yesterday was our last day for editing, where last minute fine tuning was needed.
I managed to fill the gap that was in the good girl sequence, using four photographs to create a short and quick montage. I feel that the inclusion of th
is photomontage was very effective, as the cutting rate complimented the soundtrack perfectly. The photographs also allowed the audience a deeper insight into the good girl character, where they showed the different accessories that she was putting on to aid her appearance. Overall, I am happy with this addition.
I also took it upon myself to improve the speed of the arcade sequence, cutting up the shots already present so to include a few more. I managed to add in about 3 more shots:
I also added in one other shot that fitted into the section where the characters make their way to the arcade; this was a steady cam styled shot of the bad girl pushing the bad boy in a trolley chasing after the good boy:
I personally really like this shot because it captures the rebellious motifs that are present in videos targeted at youth audiences nowadays. It also provides a sense of verisimilitude as this shot was improvised, to some extent; we were inspired on the spot after having found the trolley on the street, this allowed our creative and initiative side to surface. The improvisational effect of this shot provides a realistic, convincing and a believable appeal.
One other interval that needed to be filled was the section after the bad girl sequence and before the performance sequence. We came up with the idea of using another photomontage, due to prior montages working so well; it was decided that we would use the photographs that we took whilst filming the band sequence. The gap was about half a second long, and therefore quite a few images were needed, Josh managed to fill this gap using about 10/15 photos.
